ABOUT US
Bayside Quilters of the Eastern Shore is a guild committed to the creation, study, and sharing of quilts and quilt making. We have proudly been serving our community for more than 30 years. We encourage members to practice and improve their skills through regular meetings, bees and classes. Active involvement in outreach and education programs allows us to share our knowledge and love of textiles while giving back to our community.
COMING MEETINGS AND WORKSHOPS
The regular schedule for the Bayside Quilters meeting is the second Wednesday of each month, with the meeting starting at 9:30 am. Most of the meetings are held on the second floor of the Trappe Volunteer Firehouse in Trappe, MD.
May 8, 2024: Rachel Derstine Lecture "From Inspiration to Art Process"
Rachel will join us via Zoom to talk about where she gets inspiration for her art, including other artists, photographs, and influences from life experiences. She will discuss how to make effective quilts using art concepts such as limiting the color palette, simplifying the background, using repetition of line, shapes, values and color throughout the work.

May 8, 2024: Rachel Derstine Workshop "Mini Landscapes"
Rachel will present a half day workshop via Zoom on easy mini landscape quilting using fused applique techniques. You may choose to make an 8” x 10” or 5” x 7” quilt. Sample landscape background designs will be provided. Rachel will teach the techniques she likes to use to create fantasy landscape quilts full of color and depth. We will create a background by piecing the sky, mountains and water then use it as a canvas on which to add more trees, mountains, foliage and moon or sun.

June 12, 2024: Deborah Boschert Lecture "All about Art Quilts"
Deborah Boschert, an artist, author and teacher, will speak to us via Zoom on her process and work. She creates art quilts with layers of fabric, paint and stitching. The personal symbols and details in her work reflect her experiences and feelings about places she’s lived and the things she’s done. In her art quilts, the tiny details are as important as the over-all design. As in life, every-day little joys complement the bigger adventures.
